POLICIES FOR A BETTER BRAZOS COUNTY

Community Focused Development

Community focused development with a renewed expectation for exceptional education, quality of life and amenities that will attract the best and brightest and enhance the level of living for our Brazos friends and neighbors.

Effective Economic Development Policy

A sound and effective economic development policy representing both cities, the county and the region it serves. It's mission: create jobs that establish career paths for long term success and sustainability.

Balanced Growth & Fiscal Discipline

Balanced growth and fiscal discipline must be considered to protect and manage our natural resources while being sensitive to the local needs of both residential and agricultural community. Too many times growing communities get overly anxious and lose faith in the market that drives sustainability. Overspending threatens the revenue stream for the timely expansion of infrastructure. A proper attitude is required to protect and manage our natural resources while being sensitive to the local needs of both residential and any existing agricultural areas and its producers. A balanced approach and plan will help ensure good growth that does not strain our resources or harm our community.

To be successful, we must first address the following

issues that need immediate, continual attention:

  1. Taxes: The Court has raised our taxes. It has been demonstrated that our growth can sustain our immediate needs without raising taxes. Three years ago, a ‘No New Tax Revenue Rate’ was adopted by the Court. The County still ended up with a $21+M surplus. I will work hard to show the Court that we can achieve our financial goals by keeping our tax rate as low as possible. The taxpayer expects this, and I will work hard to deliver.
  2. Advocacy: I will treat this position as my full-time job for which the County compensates each Commissioner. Servicing your needs is important to me. I will make myself available to you and return phone calls in a reasonable amount of time. I will work hard to ensure that the county adopts the most up to date technologies for every day use, such as a new phone system and an 'App' for Emergency Communications, simply to make it easier to share information and for the taxpayer to reach us.
  3. Operational efficiencies: It is easy to go after taxes; it is hard to go after efficiencies. I will do my very best to help the Court and Staff discover new ways to save money by cutting red tape and incentivize County employees to foster a positive and productive work environment.
  4. Transparency and Priorities: Based on recent feedback by Precinct 2 constituents, our elected officials have chosen many times to focus on their wants and not on the needs of the taxpayer. I will propose measures through votes on the Court for more accountability, improved communications and a re-evaluation of county project priorities, road plans and funding.

WHY JEFF MURSKI?

Jeff Murski is the most qualified and equipped candidate in the race for Precinct 2 Commissioner. As a Congressional staffer working for an effective Member of Congress that has over 27 years of service, Jeff has worked with many County Judges, Commissioners, University presidents and research provosts, guiding them through the appropriations process for federal funding of infrastructure projects both large and small.

Jeff knows firsthand what it's like to be successful for local government, its projects and its relationship with the taxpayer. Jeff is a dedicated advocate in touch with constituents everyday through open dialogue and a door that is never locked until it's time to go home.

ENGAGE, TELL THE TRUTH AND RETURN PHONE CALLS

Jeff has always believed in engaging with the community by being present, listening, and serving. As Commissioner, he will continue to host in-person town hall meetings, attend local events, and foster a collaborative, team-oriented atmosphere at the county level—all with the taxpayer in mind.

Built on integrity, trust, honesty, and transparency, Jeff's leadership style is grounded in a strong work ethic. He does what he says, keeps his promises, and believes in being a workhorse, not a showhorse.

Campaign Commitments

  • Re-commit the county to an open-door policy and return phone calls
  • Pursue the lowest possible tax rate for each budget—ideally, a 'no new revenue' rate
  • Re-open a discussion to establish a 'Veterans Court' to better serve those who served us.
  • Support any opportunity for the Commissioners Court to serve as tax-payer liaisons to County Departments offering oversight and guidance.
  • Pursue necessary updates of policies such as construction standards and subdivision regulations.
  • Evaluate the county risk management plan and consider private sector 'insurance' coverage over any 'risk-pool' plans that may be in place.

Jeff's approach is simple: listen, act, and deliver results for the people of Brazos County.
